The Sr. Systems Engineer is a senior-level cloud infrastructure and DevSecOps engineer responsible for standing up, securing, and maintaining AWS GovCloud IL6 environments to support PLM software implementations for the Department of Defense (DoD). This role plays a critical part in the design, deployment, and automation of complex cloud-native solutions that meet stringent performance, security, and compliance requirements. The ideal candidate brings 5+ years of hands-on experience deploying and managing AWS workloads, including orchestration of containerized microservices, across both Red Hat Linux and Windows Server platforms. They will be proficient in building and managing data pipelines using AWS Glue and implementing secure, scalable solutions using Infrastructure as Code (IaC), CI/CD pipelines, and modern observability tools. This role requires strong collaboration with cross-functional teams, proactive troubleshooting, and independent ownership of cloud architecture and system administration tasks. Candidates must hold an active security clearance, Security+ certification, and at least one current AWS certification.


Duties and Responsibilities:


· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business & security requirements and translate them into technical solutions.

· Build and maintain ETL data pipelines using AWS Glue, ensuring efficient movement and transformation of structured and unstructured data across secure DoD environments.

· Administer AWS services including EC2, S3, RDS (Oracle/PostgreSQL), Secrets Manager, CloudWatch, and IAM with a focus on automation, compliance, and performance.

· Design and manage containerized environments, leveraging tools like Kubernetes (e.g., RKE2), Docker, and Rancher for orchestration, scalability, and persistent storage solutions.

· Utilize Ansible playbooks for automation, and secure applications with Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), managing TLS/SSL certificates, and enforcing secure authentication mechanisms.

· Responsible for administering RDS Oracle and RDS PostgreSQL databases, including initial data seeding, schema configurations, running scripts, query execution for troubleshooting, and optimizing database performance for application-specific needs

· Support installing and performing upgrades of PLM application software, applying critical patch sets, and fixing security vulnerabilities on a regular basis with all infrastructure and applications included in the technical stack.

· Conduct comprehensive testing, including unit, integration, and system testing ensuring application infrastructure and performance is maintained.

· Support debug and resolution of complex application/customization defects and issues that may require performance and infrastructure related investigations and solutions.

· Develop and maintain technical documentation and architecture diagrams to support ATO documentation and team knowledge sharing.

· Mentor junior team members and provide technical leadership in planning, architecture, and incident response.


Required Qualifications:


· Active U.S. DoD security clearance.

· Current Security + certification.

· Currently hold relevant AWS certifications.

· Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, software engineering, or other engineering discipline.
