Are you looking for an opportunity to use your IT skills to truly change the world for the better?  We are the leading non-profit organization that is redesigning the tools that enable public health agencies use to do their jobs.  We need committed, mission-driven technologists to help us build the next generation of public health tools for our Public Health Systems department.  Public Health Systems advances population health management and healthcare delivery through the development of public health IT systems, health information exchange and interoperability solutions. We work with State and Federal government agencies to build and develop software that impacts peoples live. 
In this role, you will have the opportunity to help Altarum modernize the public health infrastructure and make a difference in your community. Our Public Health Systems department efforts range from building the next generation technology in disease surveillance to optimizing data standards and system integrations to improve the coordination and delivery of healthcare for patients.  You’ll work in an Agile environment alongside a team of Software Developers, Business Analysts, and Public Health Analysts.
The Public Health Systems Product Director will support Altarum’s growth by staying abreast of the latest technologies and interoperability standards with public health IT. This role requires excellent written/verbal communication and relationship building skills as the Director will be client-facing and will be tasked with identifying ways to bring value to both new and existing clients through account management practices and by providing thoughtful responses to state and federal requests for proposal, grants, and sources sought requests.

Responsibilities

  • Working with the Chief Program and Strategy Officer and Division Leadership to align internal collaborators and clients on strategy, growth, implementation and operations of the Public Health Systems portfolio.
  • Demonstrating inspirational and motivational leadership and oversight to ensure projects are implemented and completed efficiently and with excellence. 
  • Advising state and federal clients and healthcare providers on Altarum’s public health systems data modernization solutions.
  • Maintaining a market pulse on regulatory direction to craft, communicate and explain Federal solution roadmaps that integrate successfully within state and local public health ecosystems, including, but not limited to, assisting with developing and implementing public health data modernization goals.
  • Collaborating with product/service owners to understand client priorities based on alignment with federal requirements, strategic direction, timelines and contractual specifications.
  • Synthesizing client, product, and industry data, trends and standard methodologies to advise knowledge sharing and inform internal strategy and client recommendations.
  • Nurturing positive relationships with key clients and cross-functional teams to support delivery of task order obligations on time and within scope and budget.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree plus 8+ years of significant experience in healthcare integration, Health Information Technology (HIT) or Health Information Exchanges (HIEs) and experience with large enterprise clients.
  • Demonstrated ability to oversee the development, implementation and support of large-scale information systems.
  • Cross-functional and matrixed implementation experience operating at multiple levels of authority from front-line to executive.
  • Experience supporting state and federal health IT programs, preferred.
  • Knowledge of interfaces/data sharing standards and regulations such as HIPAA, TEFCA, 21st Century Cures Act, USCDI, HL7, FHIR and IHE, preferred.
  • Experience building and nurturing strong relationships with key clients to drive growth and revenue.

Logistical Requirements

  • At this time we will only accept candidates who are presently eligible to work in the United States and will not require sponsorship.
  • Our organization requires that all work, for the duration of your employment, must be completed in the continental U.S. unless required by contract.
  • If you are local to our offices in Arlington, Silver Spring, Ann Arbor, or Portland this role will be hybrid.
  • Must be able to work during eastern time unless approved by your manager.
