About the role

GEICO is seeking a Director to lead its finance data and reporting function, ensuring the proper finance data architecture is in place optimally supporting the required data engineering to enable development of financial planning, modeling, reporting and analysis in support of executive management.  You will have strong data engineering skills with leading tools, data and systems architecture expertise, data governance knowledge, analytic skills, financial and business acumen, and intellectual curiosity combined with excellent communication skills. Responsibilities:

  • Lead finance data architecture and governance requirements

  • Own the data sourcing/engineering capability development and process execution enabling finance planning, reporting and analysis needs, including mastery of foundational financial ERM and ERP systems

  • Lead a centralized reporting team that is proficient in leading technology, techniques, and processes

  • Lead/collaborate where appropriate ad-hoc analysis to help drive business outcomes, including variance analysis and drill-down/through data mining to identify underlying drivers for actionable business insights

  • Establish a strong team who can elevate data and analytics, gather data and reporting requirements, and become the one source of truth for finance data.

  • Ensure all output is timely, accurate, and coordinated with relevant stakeholders

  • Comply with financial guidelines, company policies, and relevant legal regulations

  • Partnership and ability to work through others will be key, whether it be working with finance stakeholders on reported results, or business colleagues on operational/financial results or variance analysis.  This person must be able to navigate the organization to best support data/analytics needs

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of directly related experience in data, reporting and financial analysis

  • Demonstrated leadership and strategic financial data and analysis contributions in complex business settings; experience working with executive and senior management to develop and implement successful strategic data/reporting solutions

  • Ability to communicate complex data simply to a wide range of audiences

  • Experience within the insurance industry

  • Advanced data engineering and modeling techniques, and strategic analysis skills

  • Understanding of financial and accounting principles and software

Location:

  • This is a hybrid role requiring 3 days a week in the office and 2 days remote in Chicago, IL or Chevy Chase, MD.
