Northrop Grumman's Strategic Space Systems Division (SSSD) is looking for a Navigation Payload Software Lead to support our Communications Systems Software (CSS) department. As a member of the CSS department, you’ll work in a fast-paced team environment to make our technologies a reality. This position will serve on-site at Redondo Beach, CA, with 50% travel to Woodland Hills, CA, in managing the execution, development, integration, and delivery of a navigation payload system.
 

The Navigation Payload Software Lead should have management experience and will be responsible for directing a team of engineers and coordinating with teams from different sectors and divisions. The selected candidate will drive program execution toward software delivery schedule and should be familiar with software development best practices to right-size the needs of the effort (e.g. configuration management, unit testing). The Navigation Payload Software Lead should have experience with VxWorks and Workbench, as well as experience or familiarity with the technical baseline, such as Pointing, Navigation, and Timing (PNT), and Global Positioning System (GPS). The selected candidate will guide process improvement, especially in configuration management, code quality practices, making optimal tasking assignments, and understanding and documenting the technical baseline and architecture.
 

The Navigation Payload system encompasses software development in a resource constrained target environment with soft and hard real time requirements for various flight/space/ground systems. The software will typically implement complex data analysis, data routing, and/or control systems algorithms. Candidate will need familiarity with various processor, memory, and I/O architectures and be able to implement both procedural and embedded software in C/C++ utilizing real-time operating system (VxWorks) and Wind River Workbench.
 

The ideal candidate should have academic and work experience in software engineering and development across the full life cycle for automated test sets/test systems on aerospace programs. Experience working in a process-oriented environment utilizing agile processes is also desired. The selected candidate should also have strong verbal and written communication skills and be comfortable working on large teams with talented engineers from other engineering disciplines. Must be comfortable working in a lab environment.
