 General Responsibilities 
  1. Functions as assistant to program manager and is actively involved with community organizations, volunteers and schools.
  2. Responsible for researching, scheduling and executing outreach and recruitment efforts to enhance program outcomes. 
  3. Responsible for day-to-day coordination of program activity, including recruitment and training of volunteers, follow through on referrals and completing and monitoring volunteer placements. 
  4. Ensures program data integrity is maintained and monitored; participates in Agency and program Quality Improvement processes. 
  5. Other duties as assigned within the guidelines of this position.  

Essential Functions

  1. Assists in the recruitment, orientation, and placement of volunteers. 
  2. Provides information about Program to community agencies and organizations.
  3. Coordinates and facilitates pre-service orientation and in-service instruction of volunteers.
  4. Trains volunteers regarding program policies and procedures.
  5. Ensures that all volunteers follow established program policies and procedures. 
  6. Assists maintenance of computer database, school and volunteer files, and data entry as needed to ensure compliance with      agency, accreditation and funding source standards. 
  7. Maintains awareness of current information on programs and services available to older adults and persons with disabilities.
  8. Attend staff meetings, conferences and training programs as recommended by Program Manager.
  9. Attends initial placement meetings with volunteer and school personnel and provides orientation to school personnel regarding the program. 
  10. Maintains ongoing contact with schools, volunteers and program advisory council.
  11. Monitors new volunteer placements ensuring services are provided as expected.
  12. Completes bi-annual site visits ensuring that sites are utilizing volunteers appropriately in accordance with AmeriCorps federal standards.

Requirements

  1. A Bachelor’s degree in social science and/or social work, psychology, gerontology, business administration or related field is required for this position. All degrees must come from a regionally accredited educational institution which has U.S. Department of Education approval.
  2. A minimum of one (1) year of experience in working with older adults and volunteers, previous work with older adults is preferred.
  3. Ability to relate well to older adults respecting their privacy, dignity and the right the self-determination.
  4. Demonstrated ability to work effectively and constructively with people from all racial, diverse cultures, family systems, and social backgrounds.
  5. Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, and Teams.
  6. Strong verbal and written communications skills.
  7. Passage of complete background clearance, and any other required testing or clearances.
  8. A valid driver’s license, reliable means of transportation and proof of liability insurance is required.
