Manager, Regional Procurement Lead – IPS Americas

About the role

The Regional Procurement Lead for IPS Americas supports the regional BU goals as a business partner providing regional service and category expertise in alignment with the organization’s strategies and goals while coordinating alignment with local procurement and local operational teams to deliver both top & bottom line growth.

Working under the general direction of both Global Procurement and the IPS business, this role is a partner to the businesses who provides support to the strategic procurement needs (support growth, identify new innovative materials/supply partners, risk mitigation, margin expansion, etc.) and brings value (drives profitability, supports sustainability and growth strategies and targets,  mitigates risk,  protects free cash flow, etc.) to the various locations within the Americas region (Canada, US, Mexico, and South America). 

Specific to the IPS US business unit, team member reports to UPS BU-Aligned Procurement Director & VP of Global Procurement for global category strategy and leverage.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide best-in-class service to the IPS business unit for the Americas region by being a procurement partner to the business, understanding its needs, and interfacing with key internal customers.    Interface is responsible to align procurement strategies with the business goals and in accordance with guidance provided by BU-Aligned Procurement Director and BU Leadership;
  • Lead the sourcing and procurement process for assigned (global, regional, or BU specific) strategic categories (such as aluminum, resins, films, paper, inks, colorants, etc.);
  • Align the operation of procurement processes in synergy and coordination with the global and local functional teams (supply chain, operations, R&, finance, etc.), to ensure compliance with the established goals;
  • Obtain understanding of each locations’ needs for assigned category spend and integrate subject matter expertise, business/market intelligence, leverage of purchasing power to bring optimal value to the organization;
  • Conduct RFXs ( RFP’s, RFIs, RFQ’s, reverse auctions, etc.) and negotiations as appropriate;
  • Review, comment and negotiate supplier contracts for compliance with financial and legal requirements with Tekni-Plex’s legal team in a timely manner and provide input into commercial contracts to ensure alignment and optimization across the supply chain;
  • Work and support efforts with the facilities to comply with federal, state and local legal regulations and Tekni-Plex procurement policies
  • Resolve supplier-related issues for the suppliers directly managed;
  • Identify strategic best-in-class partners and manage the strategic relationships, from a commercial perspective, for those suppliers assigned as relationship manager.
  • Maintain a high-level understanding of managed strategic commodities/categories via research of market intelligence, industry and price trends, cost drivers, fundamental risk elements, the technology trends and barriers to entry by new competitors, etc, and communicate across functional teams;
  • Actively participate in global and local committees as requested;
  • Perform risk assessment for materials and processes, and work in collaboration with functional teams on implementing improvements and solutions.
  • Support direct report(s) to maximize personal development and business contribution;
  • Develop a cooperative, supportive and committed work culture within the team and between the team and other procurement groups. Establish common vision, values and direction, consistent personal behavior and role modeling, regular communications and co-ordination initiatives, and close attention to developing positive cultural norms;
  • Assists in preparation of procurement policies and procedures for the global organization.
  • Develop and track metrics, including both internal and external benchmarks, to monitor performance and allow for data-driven decision making;
  • Participate in global and local committees (R&D, supply chain, etc.) as deemed applicable.
  • Implement & monitor compliance and effectiveness of procurement policies, best practices, and processes in accordance with the standards set out by the organization;
  • Assist on projects and perform related duties as assigned by Supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS   

Education/Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in procurement, business, engineering, materials management, finance or an accepted discipline, with ten (10) or more years full-time of combined experience in supply chain or operations with a minimum 7 years in procurement.
