SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Application Engineer, OEM & Automotive leads and coordinates the development and support of targeted customers per the OEM/Automotive marketing and sales plan. Systematically identifies, documents, and communicates customer and market requirements into the organization. This position determines and then develops engineered application solutions. Follows up to facilitate and meet those requirements, including all aspects of launch and project coordination. Serves as the ongoing focal point for all aspects of interface and relationship management with selected OEM and Automotive customers and supports the growth to these targeted 80 accounts.
REPORTING TO: Director of Automotive Sales
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Consults with existing and potential OEM and Automotives clients to assess and understand systems requirements and product needs e.g., key sign-off dates, approvals, PPAP’s, etc.
- Drafts or assists with the drafting of sales presentations and other documentation and materials that explain products and services to customers.
- Provides expertise and support to OEM and Automotive sales teams to communicate products, services, and client needs.
- Ensures that customer needs are collected, documented, and met; which may include product modifications.
- Proposes improved materials or products to customers and explains benefits of changes. This may include initiating and following up on ECR/ECNs per established procedures.
- Provides support to customers and resolves problems with product installation.
- Prepares product orders and schedules deliveries.
- Assists with New Product Development (NPD) in partnership with NPD and VAVE Engineering Team by championing Voice of Customers.
- Manages sales of assigned OEM and/or Automotive accounts directly.

- Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or government publications.

- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram or schedule form.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s Degree (B.S.) in related Engineering field plus 5+ years’ experience in related sales engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience dealing with customers, understanding their requirements, and ensuring customer satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
- Proficient in standard Microsoft Office or related applications.
