Primary Duties and Responsibilities: 

Assistant Esports Coordinator

College of DuPage Esports | Part-Time (10-15 hours/week) Reports to: Head Esports Coach

About the Program

College of DuPage Esports is one of the most competitive junior college programs in the country, with a community of 500+ members and 60 competitive students across multiple titles. Competing in NJCAAE Division 3, the program has won five national championships and most recently competed in the 2025-26 NJCAAE Division 3 Overwatch Grand Finals.

Position Summary
The Assistant Esports Coordinator supports the Head Esports Coach in league operations and competitive coaching. This role owns NJCAAE registration and compliance for all teams, serves as the program's point of contact for league disputes, and coaches one of the program's competitive titles. The ideal candidate is organized, communicates clearly with students and league officials, and brings prior collegiate esports coaching experience.

Key Responsibilities

 Oversee NJCAAE registration for all competitive teams, ensuring rosters and eligibility requirements are complete and submitted on time
Serve as the program's designated contact for all NJCAAE-related disputes, working with league officials to reach resolutions
Coach one competitive title offered by the program (Super Smash Bros., Valorant, or Rocket League), including practice planning, match preparation, and player development
Assist the Head Coach in overseeing student employees
Travel in-state with teams to esports tournaments (approximately twice per semester)

Qualifications:

Education

  • Associates degree, or a combination of education and coaching experience, equivalent to 2 years required.

Experience

  • Demonstrated knowledge of innovative and proven coaching strategies and techniques required.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, with a commitment to developing and maintaining a positive and productive playing environment for all team members required.
  • Proven ability to provide mentoring and leadership to student-athletes and a commitment to student-athlete welfare required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and adherence to NJCAA rules/requirements relevant to the conduct of an intercollegiate program required.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with diverse groups required.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required.
  • Excellent analytical and decision-making skills required.
  • Ability to work and/or travel a flexible schedule to include evening, weekend, or limited overnight assignments required.

COD Training

  • Bloodborne Pathogens
  • AED/CPR

Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to work extended hours during specific sport seasons for practices, games and recruiting.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must have or acquire any coaching certification or license required for coaching.
  • This position is subject to a criminal and motor vehicles background check.
