Purpose of Job

The Manager Sales Development MWLS is responsible for growing Sasol's chemical business in the US Metalworking/Lubrication (MWL) market through sales of Sasol differentiated and specialty products. The role is part of a global team of Sales Managers collectively focused on delivering market specific strategies and earnings targets for MWLS.

Key Accountabilities

  • Develop/manage relationships with assigned customers and key players in the US market.
  • Use these relationships to drive sales.
  • Input into the optimisation of sales volumes, prices, and contribution margin for sales into the MWL sector.
  • Deliver sales to support growth targets and budgets based on acquired identified market opportunities.
  • Input into the global strategy to penetrate MWL market areas as appropriated. Help to align Sasol products, systems, assets and resources to execute the strategy.
  • Assist with uncovering and reporting on market trends that will be used to drive and prioritize development of products and processes to support growth in the MWL market.
  • Support the process of gaining market information that will be used to justify new Sasol assets, technologies, or capacities resulting from execution of Differentiation Strategy.
  • Work with Senior Manager Sales MWLS to negotiate/execute/manage contracts with Customers, Distributors, Agents, Consultants etc. as required by the Performance Solutions strategy.

Formal Education

  • University Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or Business

Working Experience

  • 7+ years’ experience in Sales with 3+ years in Metalworking/Lubrication

Required Personal/Professional Skills

  • Sales experience; preferably selling chemicals to the MWL or similar technical market
  • MWL industry specific knowledge (products, applications, customers, competitors)
  • Analytical skills, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, broad leadership skills
  • Ability to work under pressure, to prioritize and to control the workload
  • Willingness for 25-40% travel including occasional international travel
  • Customer-, service- and solution-oriented personality (e.g. self-motivation, delivering high quality solutions and services, demonstrating flexibility)
  • User skills for IT modules corresponding to Sales tasks
