Salary Range: $140,000-$160,000
Position Summary
Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Campaign Operations, the Assistant Vice President (AVP), Principal Gift and Campaign Communications provides strategic leadership and execution for the development of high-impact, persuasive communications in support of Temple University’s most significant fundraising priorities.
The AVP partners closely with Institutional Advancement (IA) leadership, academic leaders, and internal stakeholders to ensure that principal gift proposals, campaign cases, and related communications are compelling, strategically aligned, and executed with discipline and purpose. This role plays a critical part in advancing the university’s fundraising campaign by elevating the quality, consistency, and effectiveness of donor-facing materials and ensuring a coordinated and highly personalized donor experience.
The successful candidate will be an experienced communications strategist and writer with demonstrated success supporting principal and major gift fundraising in a complex organization.

Required Education and Experience
*Master’s degree
*At least eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in advancement communications and fundraising.
*An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Required Skills and Abilities
*Demonstrated experience developing successful principal and major gift proposals and campaign materials is required.
*Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with the ability to translate complex ideas into compelling donor-facing communications.
*Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple high-priority projects simultaneously.
*Ability to work collaboratively across a complex organization and build relationships with senior leadership and stakeholders.
*Strategic thinking and the ability to align communications with institutional priorities.
*High level of professionalism, discretion, and attention to detail.
*Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
*Ability to meet deadlines and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
*Ability to travel and work evenings and weekends as needed.
*Experience supporting a comprehensive capital campaign.
*Experience in higher education or a similarly complex nonprofit environment.
