SkyWater is hiring a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Manager of Technical Accounting to join our corporate accounting team. In this critical leadership role, you will serve as the Company's subject matter expert on U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements. You will be responsible for researching complex accounting issues, drafting technical position papers, monitoring accounting standard updates, overseeing the Company’s adoption of new accounting standards, and supporting financial reporting, policy development, and strategic transactions. This position reports directly to the Vice President Corporate Controller and will work cross-functionally with Finance, Legal, Tax, Operations, and Business Development.
Responsibilities:
• Serve as the company’s expert on U.S. GAAP, SEC regulations, and emerging accounting standards;
• Lead the evaluation and documentation of complex and non-routine transactions (e.g., revenue recognition, leasing, business combinations, debt/equity, stock-based compensation);
• Advise stakeholders (Legal, Tax, Treasury, FP&A, M&A) on accounting implications of contracts, transactions, and strategic initiatives.
• Draft comprehensive technical accounting memos and provide guidance to finance leadership and external auditors;
• Assess the provisions of new accounting standards, make recommendations to the Corporate Controller and new accounting standards adoption, and lead implementation efforts to adopt such standards;
• Maintain and enhance existing accounting policies;
• Support the External Reporting team in the review of financial statements and SEC filings (10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, S-1, etc.), ensuring technical accuracy and compliance.
• Serve as a primary contact of the external auditors during quarterly reviews and the year-end audit, including providing supporting documentation and service coordination;
• Engage in special projects, notably development of ERP and other financial reporting system enhancements;
• Lead process improvement initiatives; and
• Prepare and present materials to the Company’s Audit Committee.
A candidate should expect their time to be allocated across these responsibilities as follows:
• 60% technical accounting assessments;
• 20% new accounting policy adoption and policy management; and
• 20% projects and other accounting work.
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, or higher
• CPA license
• 7+ years in public accounting and/or technical accounting
• Organized and proactive with an ability to manage multiple activities
• Demonstrated ability to build strong working relationships and facilitate cross-functional collaboration and partnerships
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Detail-oriented
