Pay: $20/hr
Shift: 1st Shift and 2nd Shift Rotation.
Position Summary:
The Clerk Shipping & Receiving is responsible for the flow and traffic of all inbound and outbound trailers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Reviews and maintains seal, driver, and move logs.
- Updates all whiteboards in the office with current information.
- Manages the on duty drivers and coordinates vehicle moves throughout the day.
- Requests empty reefers that are going to be needed throughout the day.
- Notifies Transportation department when trailers are out of service.
- Gathers yard checks throughout the day and reviews them for any potential issues (i.e. low fuel, wrong seals, etc.)
- Ensures the yard is free of congestion by managing a proper trailer flow.
- Monitor trailer temperatures and alerts utilizing current truck monitoring software.
- Maintains warehouse paperwork and files.
- Cross trains in all duties and responsibilities in the warehouse office functions.
- Suggests ways to control labor and supply costs as well as improve processes.
- Ensures that all work activities are performed with attention to the highest standards for quality, safety and compliance with all appropriate legal and food safety requirements and a focus on continuous improvement.
- Ensures that all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) are followed.
- Follows all company policies & procedures as well as the GMP's (Good Manufacturing Practices).
- Maintains a high level of safety awareness for an accident-free work place.
- Reports any unsafe or hazardous work conditions or safety-related issues to Management.
- Accomplishes all tasks as appropriately assigned or requested.
Education, Skills and Experience:
Education:
- High School or GED required.
Skills and Experience:
- Previous experience with bar coding and automatic data collection preferred.
- Ability to work overtime, irregular hours or rotating shifts.
- Excellent organizational skills as well multi-tasking skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with basic office equipment.
- Must understand numbers and apply basic statistics.
- Ability to compute by adding, subtracting and averaging numbers.
- Ability to analyze, interpret, correlate, and present data.
- Bilingual English/Spanish skills helpful.
- Ability to communicate and work effectively with a variety of diverse individuals within the plant and corporate environments.
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications.
- Ability to thrive in a constantly changing environment.
