Position: Senior Accountant- Reports to Corporate Controller
On-Site Position: Spartronics Headquarters (290 Woodcliff Drive; Fairport, New York, 14450)
This is a Full-time position; 40 hours/week, Monday through Friday in office.
At Spartronics, the Senior Accountant will be focused on, but not limited to, preparation of journal entries, reconciliations, and month end close related supporting schedules as they relate to various key balance sheet and income statement areas (cash, investments, prepaids, fixed assets, accounts payable, accruals, equity, and more). This role is vital in ensuring that the financials are accurate, complete, and timely reported. Additionally, the Sr Accountant will have the opportunity to assist with various ad hoc projects as they arise, such as: process improvement, financing, software implementation, etc. This position may collaborate with internal and external stakeholders including financial statement auditors and other accounting related consultants.
What a Day Looks Like:
- Timely completion of month end processes including preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and other supporting schedules including creating and/or gathering supporting documentation to substantiate entries and account balances.
- Review and analyze income statement and balance sheet accounts to accrue period expenses, defer future costs, and validate expense coding and account classification.
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of accounts payable tasks such as: invoice entry, vendor set-up, and assisting with payment runs.
- Prepare and maintain the fixed asset ledgers and verify all items are properly capitalized and depreciated.
- Prepare accurate and timely balance sheet reconciliations in accordance with company guidelines, including but not limited to reconciliations to GL, creating supporting schedules, and promptly resolving account variances.
- Prepare and/or audit bank statement reconciliations, including proactive communication and review sessions with support teams to resolve reconciling items and account discrepancies.
- Reconcile intercompany and interdivisional transactions and balances and prepare necessary elimination entries for consolidation.
- Ensure compliance with Company accounting and internal control policies.
- Evaluate workflow processes and procedures to develop, recommend and implement procedural and system changes to increase accuracy and efficiencies.
