Job Description

As a Sr. Consultant Software Engineer for Learning Enablement Technology (LET) within Corporate IT, you'll be part of a global team, with ownership over the entire development lifecycle and support for a broad portfolio of custom-built applications and multiple SaaS vendors.

LET provides technology ownership for Visa Consulting and Analytics applications including Visa University (our flagship learning solution for financial industry professionals offering classes and certifications), Minerva (an Issuer Benchmark Study service, crucial for providing in-depth performance and profitability analysis for credit card issuers), and VCA Knowledge Xchange (a key tool for facilitating knowledge exchange and learning for Visa consultants).

Your contributions will be vital in shaping the future of these platforms, ensuring they continue to meet the needs of our users and maintain Visa's position as a leader in the industry. Your responsibilities will span over the entire portfolio (with a focus on Minerva) and include architecture, design, technology ownership, security and infrastructure management, software development, and support. You will also manage relationships with vendors, consultants, business stakeholders, and technology partners.

This is a very hands-on individual contributor role in Austin, USA. Our team has a startup mindset, and we partner with various teams to produce best-in-class software solutions to meet evolving needs of clients. We have a culture of not resting on our laurels and you will fit right in if continuous improvement is in your DNA. The ideal candidate will bring energy and enthusiasm to evolve our platforms to the next level. We believe in leading by example, ownership with high standards, and being curiously creative.

The Work itself:

  • Develop new features for the suite of VCA’s .NET applications and enhance SaaS integration.
  • Be the technology owner for Minerva application, an Issuer benchmarking study service.
  • Continue to learn about the industry and propose new payments solutions to meet future needs. Leverage latest technologies including Gen AI tools.
  • Evangelize and adhere to SDLC governance framework.
  • Engage with product managers, design team, and cross-functional technology groups to ensure that the right solutions are available and accessible to our users around the world.
  • Produce architecture, development, support artifacts and participate in code-reviews.
  • Ensure the highest level of Engineering and Operational Excellence following CRE (Corporate Reliability Engineering) principles.
  • Provide on-call support for high priority incidents and serve as a release manager.
  • Act as ATC (Application Technical Contact), security steward, and manage infrastructure as needed.
  • Participate in vendor management, assessment, and selection.
  • Coach and mentor junior developers.
  • Work with limited direction, usually within a complex and fast paced environment to drive delivery of solutions and meet service levels.

Essential Functions:

  • Works directly with product owners to gather and refine requirements across products, adding and taking into account existing tools and solutions across the organization.
  • Develops and designs advanced architect solutions that are robust and scalable, considering integrations with other solutions across the internal technical ecosystem.
  • Provides domain expertise on the development of user documentation of solutions and implements standard processes in user documentation.
  • Plays a key role in the development and delivery of new features across products from end-to-end.
