About the role

Description

Summary:

An experienced counselor who possesses knowledge about substance abuse treatment and is trained in a variety of therapeutic techniques used to treat clinical disorders. Works independently with weekly supervision and is capable of directing and motivating residents toward recovery through specific avenues of treatment. 


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Appropriately assesses client treatment needs and provides treatment recommendations.
  • Provides individual and group counseling using evidence-based techniques.
  • Coordinates treatment with other providers to ensure best client care and ensures appropriate aftercare plan for all assigned clients.
  • Ensures appropriate aftercare plan for all assigned clients.
  • Effectively manages crisis situations on the unit.
  • Documents in the clinical record according to requirements of the regulatory agencies.
  • Follows and oversees the utilization review process.
  • May be required to transport clients in personal or Agency vehicle
  • Other related duties as assigned.


*All agency staff are required to attend all mandatory department/agency meetings and trainings*


Requirements

Education &/Or Experience:

  • Master's degree
  • Connecticut State Licensure (LCSW, LPC, LMFT, LADC) and two (2) years relevant experience. 
  • Experience working in a Recovery-Oriented System of Care and clinical supervision experience.
  • Experience in individual, group and family therapy.
  • Knowledge of the 12 Step Program.
  • Considerable written and oral communication skills.
