Job Summary
Location: Remote – Must reside near a major airport
Travel: 60–75% to regional facilities in Longview, TX; Charlotte, NC; Middletown, PA; or Melbourne, FL
Overview
The EHS Manager leads safety initiatives across Commissary Group’s regional fresh food manufacturing sites. This role drives a behavior-based safety culture, ensures regulatory compliance, and supports continuous improvement. The manager will build and lead a regional safety team, standardize safety practices, and serve as a strategic partner to leadership.
Responsibilities
Safety Leadership
- Develop and improve safety programs, policies, and procedures
- Standardize protocols across facilities
- Conduct risk assessments and audits
Team Management
- Recruit, train, and lead regional safety staff
- Set performance metrics and drive accountability
- Promote a collaborative, results-driven culture
Compliance & Incident Response
- Ensure adherence to OSHA, FDA, USDA, and other regulations
- Investigate incidents and implement preventive measures
- Report safety data to leadership
Training & Engagement
- Deliver role-specific safety training
- Promote proactive hazard identification and safe behaviors
- Lead safety committees and improvement initiatives
Emergency Preparedness
- Develop site-specific emergency plans
- Conduct drills and crisis training
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Environmental Health, or related field
- Experience in manufacturing or food production safety programs
- Strong analytical and investigative skills
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local safety regulations
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Willing to travel 60–70%
- Strong collaboration skills
