Job Description Summary:

Under general supervision, performs preventative and corrective maintenance and repairs, as well as custodial, landscaping, and equipment operation tasks and related duties as required. Provides excellent customer service and adheres to the city’s values.

Job Description:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES              

  • Maintains and repairs district-owned facilities, parking lots, structures, properties, and other right-of-way amenities. Includes snow removal as needed.

  • Self-performs and/or works with team to complete a variety of maintenance tasks on building systems. The building systems include but are not limited to electrical, roofing, lighting, door locks/hardware, elevators, irrigation, emergency generators, etc.

  • Completes general plumbing work, including unclogging drains and repairing faucets.

  • Works directly with contractors for maintenance and repairs that are not able to be completed in house.

  • Observes, reports, and addresses needs for maintenance and supplies.

  • Monitors and tests electrical, elevators, fire alarm and sprinkler systems, exhaust, dewatering and all other systems associated with the general operation of parking structures.

  • Maintains accurate records of work performed and materials and equipment used.

  • Remains alert to conditions and events occurring in the business districts. Identifies anticipated repairs and reports problems to supervisor or lead.

  • Utilizes proper safety precautions to prevent accidents. Reports all accidents and damage to city property to supervisor.

  • Assist in the training new technicians in field operations and administrative procedures as requested.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to demonstrate dependability and professionalism by working effectively on a team and individually to perform work in an accurate and efficient manner, following standard procedures, being reliable, meeting deadlines, and being willing to do challenging work to accomplish the mission.

  • Ability to exhibit adaptability by navigating changing circumstances and priorities.

  • Ability to learn and use Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).

  • Ability to identify building maintenance deficiencies and report repair needs.

  • Ability to identify and suggest creative solutions to unique problems while also demonstrating courage, candor, and objectivity.

  • Ability to model strong customer service by being patient and empathetic.  

  • Ability to receive candid feedback, work through conflict and differences of opinion, and participate in open dialogue with supervisor and peers regarding team dynamics and work plan progress.  

  • Ability to demonstrate detail-oriented experience and organized field work.

  • Skills demonstrating experience performing technical, mechanical, physical and manual tasks such as plumbing, carpentry, electrical, fire alarm/sprinkler, lighting, elevator, dewatering, irrigation and/or other systems associated with parking structures or commercial buildings.

  • Skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Skills that flex strong communication with an ability to clearly communicate technical information to a variety of audiences in both written and verbal form.

  • Must successfully pass a background check before first day of work and maintain acceptable screening.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to have and maintain a current City of Boulder Heavy Equipment or similar certification.

  • Ability to have and maintain a current City of Boulder Chainsaw Training or similar certifica
