Job Description

Job Summary:

The Senior Manager, Planning, Warehouse & Logistics is responsible for overseeing and optimizing all planning, warehouse, and logistics operations to ensure efficient processing of all incoming and outgoing inventory, maintaining accuracy, and ensuring the timely flow of materials to support production. This role is essential for optimizing stock levels, managing multiple teams, and collaborating with corporate logistics in order to develop departmental plans and execute logistics operations.

Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Monitor and manage the flow of materials through receipt, production, and shipping.
  • Direct and control the activities of the production planning function to ensure required material is managed effectively.
  • Identifies and solves complex operational and organizational problems leveraging the appropriate resources within or outside the department.
  • Ensure all incoming and outgoing inventory is processed efficiently and according to schedule.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy and ensure proper data integrity in inventory management systems.
  • Manage all aspects of warehouse operations, including material receipt, proper storage and organization of materials and assemblies, and distribution of critical components for defense systems.
  • Oversee and implement cycle counting processes to ensure stock accuracy and minimize discrepancies.
  • Monitor and manage transactions and stock levels, optimizing inventory levels for operational needs.
  • Reconcile data storage systems and monitor inventory to ensure timely restocking and availability.
  • Report key metrics and status updates related to warehouse operations, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
  • Set and achieve warehouse team goals, ensuring alignment with overall operational objectives.
  • Identify risks and opportunities related to warehouse operations, proposing and implementing solutions to optimize warehouse space utilization, reduce inventory costs, and improve material handling efficiency.
  • Collaborate closely with corporate logistics teams to plan and manage local logistics operations, ensuring seamless material flow across the supply chain.
  • Is accountable for the performance and results of multiple related teams including production planners, materials specialists, and other supply chain associates.

 

Qualifications

Education, Experience & License or Certification

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field with 8-10 years of relevant experience in supply chain management, warehouse operations, and/or logistics within the defense, aerospace, or automotive industries, or an MBA with 6-8 years of related experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in Material Requirements Planning (MRP), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, purchasing, warehouse management systems, inventory control, Just-in-Time (JIT) production, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Skills and Abilities

  • Outstanding leadership, negotiation, communication, and managerial skills with the proven ability to lead multiple cross-functional teams and drive operational efficiency improvements.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and conceptual thinking skills
  • Ability to influence stakeholders and work closely with procurement, production and logistics teams to ensure the efficient flow of materials.
  • Ability to manage complex inventory systems for the manufacturing of military ground combat and tactical wheeled vehicles.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize initiatives based on business needs and requirements, particularly in managing complex inventories.
