Position Summary
The Senior Tax & Treasury Accountant is responsible for modeling the Compassus values of Compassion, Integrity, Excellence, Teamwork, and Innovation and for promoting the Compassus philosophy, using the 6 Pillars of Success as the foundation. The Senior Tax & Treasury Accountant primarily focuses on managing treasury accounting functions, including cash flow management, liquidity forecasting, and optimizing cash management strategies. While assisting with tax-related tasks as needed, the core responsibilities will revolve around treasury operations, ensuring the company's financial resources are effectively managed. S/he aids Accounting leadership and senior-level accounting professionals with the month and year-end close. This position supports the company's efforts to comply with the requirements of GAAP.
Position Specific Responsibilities
- Oversees daily cash management, ensuring optimal cash flow and liquidity to support operational needs.
- Manages bank accounts, credit lines, and cash balances, including preparing regular cash position reports.
- Prepares cash flow forecasts and provide analysis of cash trends for senior management.
- Monitors and reconcile intercompany cash transactions to maintain accurate financial records.
- Coordinates with external banks and financial institutions to ensure favorable terms and efficient transactions.
- Analyzes tax and treasury transactions for entry, posts entries upon approval, collects and evaluates data, conducts analysis, and prepares reports.
- Records and reconciles treasury transactions in the financial system to ensure accuracy in financial statements.
- Assists with the preparation of general ledger account reconciliations.
- Supports month-end and year-end close processes, focusing on treasury-related transactions.
- Assists in the preparation of financial and operating reports including trial balances, adjustments, and closing entries.
- Conducts or assists in the documentation and support of projects of varying complexity.
- Prepares schedules and supporting documentation for external auditors.
- Interprets and communicates financial reports and results for leadership.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
- Master's degree is a plus.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in accounting, finance, or related roles, with at least two (2) years in a senior capacity.
- Understanding and experience with bank reconciliation functions, posting journal entries, and month-end processing required.
- Experience with treasury management systems and ERP software (e.g. SAP, Oracle).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for financial modeling and analysis.
- Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Workday Financial experience is a plus
- Experience in the healthcare industry preferred but not required.
Skills
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage.
- Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from leaders, colleagues, investors, and external parties. Strong written and verbal communications.
- Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to understand, read, write, and speak English. Articulates and embraces hospice philosophy. Demonstrated experience in continuous improvement initiatives, root cause analysis and project management.
