Accounts Payable Reporting Analyst

PURPOSE:    

Responsible for accurately reporting requested Accounts Payable /expense information to upper management, departments and branches. These reports may be recurring reports sent out at specific times or information needed to make sound decisions on purchases or services for upper management.  Also, perform expense account analysis to ensure proper coding of invoices and expense worthiness. Set up all new vendors and change addresses or ACH information.  Responsible for tracking and remitting sales and use tax to the State of NC.

DIMENSIONS:    

Creating and running reports upon request. Perform account analysis upon request. Tract and remit Sales and Use Tax to the State of NC.  Set up new vendors, change vendor information upon request.

DUTIES:  

 The main responsibilities of this position will be creating and maintaining reports, databases, spreadsheets and macros for the Accounts Payable Department. Provide information and reports upon request. Ensure SECU is compliant with sales and use tax laws of the State of North Carolina. This position requires knowledge of all duties of the Accounts Payable Reporting Department and the Accounts Payable Department including the following: sorting of mail from Branches and Departments daily; verifying invoice approvals, coding invoices to proper General Ledger Account, keying invoices into the Accounts Payable System.  Process large vendors for payment requiring skills in Excel and Access.  Balance AP transactions to the General Ledger, review checks and attach remittance advices, view check exceptions for assigned cashiers checking accounts.  Accrue for monthly invoices not received in AP and process journal entries for these accruals. Understanding of GL and how it relates to the Financial Statements. A thorough understanding of the Accounts Payable Department will be beneficial in creating reports, maintaining databases, spreadsheets and macros for Accounts Payable and reports for upper management. Perform other related duties as required.

REQUIREMENTS:

Must have four-year degree, CCUE Certification, or Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree via the North Carolina College Transfer Program (NC-CTP).
A four-year college degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field will be given first preference in hiring decisions. 
In addition, CPA candidates and applicants who have a 5-year work history with the Credit Union or 4-year degree or CCUE or experience in an Accounting arena will also be given preference.  
Proficient in Excel and Access.
Must have 1-2 years’ experience as a Sr. AP Analyst or at least 5 years Accounts Payable experience.
Must be able to speak English fluently. 
Must be able to cooperate and collaborate with co-workers. 
Must be cordial in all interactions with members and co-workers.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:    
Must be able to comprehend and carry out verbal and written instructions.
Job requires a substantial amount of sitting.

Use hands and fingers to press telephone key pad and lift telephone receiver.
Must be able to comprehend phone calls.
Must be able to lift 5 pounds
