Adjunct- Microbiology

Description

Lourdes University invites applicants for adjunct faculty in the Department of Biology and Health Sciences. In particular, we seek an engaging instructor to teach our Microbiology lecture course and lab for the fall of 2025. This employment may continue with other Biology courses in the spring depending on course availability and job performance. 

Essential Functions: 

• Deliver in-person and engaging lecture course that covers the Microbiology topics in the course outline.

· Deliver in-person lab instruction that ensures the curriculum design is consistent with best practices, safety protocols, and industry standards. 

• Present a dynamic classroom presence in the lecture and the lab.

• Evaluate student work and provide feedback in a timely manner.

• Reply to student emails in a timely manner.

• Respond to institutional requests in a timely manner.

• Assist with assessment as needed by the department.

Skills and Abilities:

• Ability to work with traditional students as well as adult learners.

• Evidence of excellence in teaching and/or demonstrated experience in Microbiology in a professional role

• Commitment to working with a diverse student, faculty, and staff population.

• Ability to use lab equipment safely.

Requirements

• Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Microbiology, Biological Medicine, or Biochemistry; or a master’s degree or doctorate in a related field with 18 hours of graduate coursework in Biology; or ABD in Microbiology, Biological Medicine, Biochemistry, or a related field with active progress toward degree completion and at least 36 credit hours of graduate course work in Biology.

• Evidence of effective teaching at the college level preferred but not required.
