08The Role: S&P Global Commodity Insights is hiring an EU Food and Agricultural Policy Reporter. This position offers a unique opportunity to engage with one of the most dynamic sectors influencing the global economy. The selected candidate will play a critical role in analyzing and reporting on the evolving landscape of agricultural and food policies within the European Union.
The Team: S&P Global Commodity Insights leads the way in delivering analysis, forecasts, data, and market reports for a global clientele. Our multi-talented team of over 50 experienced analysts, market reporters, and price reporters collaborates to provide actionable insights and comprehensive data sets. These resources empower customers in various key functions, including procurement, negotiation support, strategic planning, supply chain management, marketing, and more. The team's expertise spans various sectors, ensuring that our clients receive well-rounded perspectives on market dynamics.
The Impact: The primary responsibility of this role is to write in-depth articles and analyses on the latest developments in EU food and agricultural policies, as well as related trade and environmental issues. This includes covering significant events and conferences within these policy fields, with a particular emphasis on meetings of the European Parliament and the EU Council. The articles will be published on the online Connect platform, aiming to equip S&P Global clients with timely and relevant information essential for their organizational strategies and decision-making processes. Additionally, the role will involve engaging with stakeholders to understand their needs and tailor insights accordingly. The position plays a vital role in shaping the narrative around agricultural policies and their impact on the global market, ensuring that S&P Global remains at the forefront of industry discussions.
Responsibilities:
- Writing insightful articles and analyses on EU agriculture and food policies that add value to customers across agri-food supply chains.
- Developing up-to-date coverage of key agri-food policy issues, including sustainability, trade, and their implications on market trends.
- Engaging with policymakers, industry leaders, and other stakeholders to gather insights and enhance the depth of reporting.
- Engaging with clients through personal interactions, whether via formal presentations or informal discussions, to provide tailored insights and foster relationships.
- Collaborating with the wider market reporting team to enhance their coverage for clients, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of market conditions.
- Contributing to S&P Global's Food and Agricultural services, including Economics, Outlook, Market Reporting, and Policy, to create a cohesive narrative around agricultural trends and policies.
- Analyzing data and trends to provide context and forecasts related to agricultural markets, helping clients anticipate changes and adjust strategies accordingly.
- Monitoring and interpreting legislative changes and their potential impacts on the agri-food sector, maintaining a proactive approach to reporting.
- Participating in industry conferences and networking events to represent S&P Global and build relationships within the agricultural policy community.
Key Qualifications and Skills:
- Excellent level of written and spoken English, with a strong ability to convey complex information clearly and effectively.
- Experience in writing about agriculture and food policies is a significant advantage, showcasing a deep understanding of the subject matter.
- At least basic knowledge of EU affairs and decision-making processes, demonstrating an ability to navigate the political landscape.
- Experience in presenting ideas and insights to clients, whether through formal presentations or informal discussions, is an added advantage.
- A degree in Journalism, Political Science, or a related field would enhance the candidate's qualifications, providing a solid foundation for the role.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret and synthesize data into actionable insights.
- Experience in investigating policy developments and market conditions .
- A proactive attitude towards learning and staying updated on industry trends, ensuring the reporting remains relevant and insightful.
Compensation/Benefits Information: Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual’s geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses, and certifications.
