We are looking for a Summer Chemist intern to form part of our Chemtronics business unit team. Since 1958 Chemtronics has been at the forefront of electronics maintenance and repair. Our product offering has grown from a handful of cleaners to a complete line of ultra-pure solvents, degreasers, swabs, wipes, and repair tools for the electrical, electronics and telecommunications industry

Job Description

In this internship you will gain valuable experience and exposure to cross-functional teams working on new product development, optimization, and production support. You will be expected to present on your projects and experiences to the team at the end of the summer.

This internship is a part of the division’s succession planning and applicants should have a strong desire to work for ITW and Contamination Control post-graduation. This position is in our Kennesaw, GA Plant. 

Essential Job Responsibilities:

The summer chemist internship is designed to give a student the hands-on exposure to day-to-day running of research and development lab that also is onsite production support whilst developing your professional skills and providing you with knowledge of various frameworks. Alongside a designated project, the internship responsibilities will include:

  • Lab bench work formulating and testing as necessary for successful completion of projects.
  • Assist Marketing in reviewing and correcting information on product labels for state, national, and international regulations conformance. 
  • Prepare lab samples and appropriate lab sample labels for third party testing, beta samples, and customer samples.  Record sample information in the Lab Sample Log.
  • Support sales activities by successfully cleaning end-user parts with current product(s) and providing a concise cleaning test report.
  • Assist in product investigations to resolve customer complaints.
  • Maintain all raw material SDSs in digital and hard copy forms according to OSHA standard.

Maintain accurate product development records and data files.

Qualifications

  • Must be in pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in chemistry or related field, ideally targeting graduation 2025.
  • GPA of 3.0 or above
  • Possess strong leadership, data analytics, organizational, interpersonal, and written and oral communication skills.
  • Self-directed, results-oriented and customer focused.
  • Strong IT skills and proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel etc).
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently
  • Have working knowledge of GC, FTIR, Karl Fischer, Viscometer, Flash Point Tester, Densitometer, Surface tensiometer, and other common lab instrumentations.
  • Ability to work as part of a team, and independently.
