Job Description

SUMMARY: 

Reporting to the Associate Director of EOF, the Assistant Director of Recruitment and Programming provides comprehensive recruitment, admissions oversight, and student support programming for economically and educationally disadvantaged students within the Future College Graduate Academy including The Educational Opportunity Fund Program (EOF) and other sub-population programs. This position serves as both recruitment efforts and programmatic initiatives, managing a partial caseload of scholars while ensuring equitable access to higher education for underrepresented populations. The Assistant Director plays a critical role in expanding access to higher education through strategic recruitment, campus-level admission processes, and holistic support services that address the unique needs of first-generation college students and graduate students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Student Support & Programming:

  • Provide comprehensive individual and group programming and academic advising to assigned scholars, including first-time freshmen, transfer students (both external and internal), and undeclared students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
  • Manage a caseload of EOF scholars which includes managing systems related to data collection and assessment of scholars to measure academic and holistic success and support needed.
  • Engage in individual and group counseling focusing on student needs which are but not limited to: financial support, academic support, mental health and emotional referrals and support services, career readiness and development.
  • Deliver holistic support services encompassing learning community integration, course selection guidance, interpretation of institutional requirements, major/minor selection, and graduation planning specifically tailored to EOF and similar program participants.

Recruitment & Admissions:

  • Lead comprehensive recruitment initiatives to identify and attract prospective EOF-eligible students who demonstrate outstanding potential for academic success despite educationally and economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
  • Conduct targeted outreach to high schools, community colleges, and community-based organizations throughout New Jersey to reach students who meet state eligibility requirements.
  • Collaborate with campus admissions staff to evaluate EOF applications and make admission recommendations based on institutional academic criteria and demonstrated potential for success.
  • Facilitate information sessions and presentations about EOF program benefits, including financial assistance, support services and comprehensive programming designed for student success.
  • Coordinate recruitment efforts for diverse EOF populations including first-time freshmen, first-time transfer students, and graduate students pursuing Master's or Doctoral degrees.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community partners, guidance counselors, and educational organizations serving economically disadvantaged populations to expand the recruitment pipeline.
  • Support prospective students through the application process, providing guidance on required documentation and helping them understand program expectations and benefits.

EOF Graduate Grant Administration:

  • Administer the EOF Graduate Grant Program designed to increase participation in graduate and professional study among New Jersey residents from backgrounds of historical poverty.
  • Manage the application and award process for graduate students pursuing Master's and Doctoral degrees, ensuring compliance with program requirements.
