Safety Assistant

This position will provide support to the Corporate Safety Manager at the Irving, TX. offices in the coordination and execution of daily requirements to provide a safe workplace for our team members.

 

• Support the Safety Manager to implement and maintain a continuing educational and safety promotional program for locations at GRUMA Locations.

• Post and communicate scheduled training sessions for GRUMA locations.

• Prepare and maintain statistical reports on safety performance and activities for distribution to management.

• File training material and update training compliance per GRUMA Location.

• Assist to provide safety orientation to new hire employees.

• Prepare Monthly and weekly reports for corporate metrics and for each location.

• Maintain communication presentations with updated information.

• Prepare monthly Safety Newsletter.

• Prepare bi-weekly presentations for Safety Meetings.

• Translate communications Safety banners.

• Coordinate meetings with all plants for several topics.

• Perform other duties as required.

• Understand role in the Food Safety Management System by being aware of the importance and relevancy of his/her activities, and to report food safety and quality problems to personnel with authority to initiate action.

• Performs other duties as required.

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Requires a high school diploma or equivalent, minimum of 2 years of experience in safety clerical, preferably in a food manufacturing setting. *Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience may be considered for the above.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

• Knowledge of industrial safety regulations

• Ability to create documentation and logs.

• Ability to communicate in a professional, clear manner.

• Ability to be multi-task oriented with excellent organizational skills.

• Ability to always present oneself in a professional manner.

• Proficient in computer skills.

• Bilingual in English and Spanish required.

Salary Range:  $36,900.00 - $46,000.00 annually - Full Benefits Packet including:

Health, Vision and Dental insurance, Life insurance, Paid time off, 401(k) matching, & Flexible spending accounts, Dependent Care FSA and Health Care FSA.
