As a Mechanical and Electrical Fitter working in the Trent Valley team you will be required to live 30 minute commute from Newark or Retford due to the nature of our work.


Mechanical and Electrical fitters take on the responsibility of a wide range of duties on Substation plant and equipment. This work is predominately outdoors and includes installation of new equipment, refurbishment and maintenance of existing equipment, fault investigation and repair as well as routine condition monitoring in line with commercial targets. You’ll benefit from our industry-leading training at our facilities based in Eakring, Nottinghamshire and other sites, a training programme will be provided which will may require occasional stays away from home.


You’ll join a team of fitters and get to work on complex 400kV circuit breakers, transformers, high speed on load tap changers, plus all kinds of ancillary equipment, DC battery systems, air compressors, diesels generators. Throughout the year there are some requirements for weekend work which overtime will be paid.

What are the requirements?

•    A minimum Level 2/3 recognised apprenticeship in electrical or mechanical engineering or an NVQ/Level 3 electrical or mechanical qualification with the relevant fitting experience is required. 
•    Ideally you’ll have high voltage (HV) engineering experience. 
•    Key skill areas we look for are Mechanical, Electrical, Hydraulic, Pneumatic, Safety Procedures, Working at Height, Lifting Operations, Panel Wiring, and Fault Finding. 
•    A Full UK Driving Licence. 
•    You can use a computer. 
Desirable 
•    Substation or Utility experience. 
•    IOSH.

Pay and Benefits

•    Starting £36,774 pa + £1,794 pa Seasonal Working Allowance.

•    37 hours Mon – Fri, the weekends are yours.
