Laboperator is a technically complex product enabling automation, data collection, controls, and monitoring of laboratory devices at scale. As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will play a key role in scaling the product to meet growing customer demands and ensuring its reliability and performance.
What you'll do
- Engineering:
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend solutions using Ruby on Rails.
- Optimize application performance, ensuring high availability and reliability.
- Maintain code quality through daily peer code reviews and adherence to internal coding standards.
- Deploy releases to cloud and on-premise environments using Kubernetes and Replicated.
- Manage monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions for timely incident response.
- Collaboration & Technical Leadership:
- Drive continuous improvement of backend architecture.
- Communicate technical complexities to stakeholders and provide guidance to team members.
- Collaborate in agile development processes, contributing to sprint planning and retrospectives.
What we’re looking for
- Qualifications:
- 5+ years of technical experience in a team environment using modern tools.
- Strong understanding of Ruby on Rails and PostgreSQL (or comparable database).
- Basic knowledge of JavaScript and experience with end-to-end testing (e.g., Cypress or Playwright).
- Familiarity with CI tools such as GitHub Actions, CircleCI, or Travis.
- Preferred Skills:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, comfortable working in distributed teams.
- Experience with monitoring tools, RabbitMQ, Redis, Kubernetes, and real-time large-scale data processing.
- Experience with deployment processes and front-end frameworks, preferably React.
- Tech Stack:
- Backend: Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQL, Redis, RabbitMQ
- Frontend: JavaScript/TypeScript, React, Redux, Babel, Webpack, MUI
- Other: Jira, GitHub, Kubernetes, Replicated, Docker, CircleCI, Cypress
