Senior Back End Engineer - Laboperator Application (m/f/d)

Laboperator is a technically complex product enabling automation, data collection, controls, and monitoring of laboratory devices at scale. As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will play a key role in scaling the product to meet growing customer demands and ensuring its reliability and performance.

What you'll do

• Engineering:
  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend solutions using Ruby on Rails.
  • Optimize application performance, ensuring high availability and reliability.
  • Maintain code quality through daily peer code reviews and adherence to internal coding standards.
  • Deploy releases to cloud and on-premise environments using Kubernetes and Replicated.
  • Manage monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions for timely incident response.
• Collaboration & Technical Leadership:
  • Drive continuous improvement of backend architecture.
  • Communicate technical complexities to stakeholders and provide guidance to team members.
  • Collaborate in agile development processes, contributing to sprint planning and retrospectives.

What we’re looking for

• Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of technical experience in a team environment using modern tools.
  • Strong understanding of Ruby on Rails and PostgreSQL (or comparable database).
  • Basic knowledge of JavaScript and experience with end-to-end testing (e.g., Cypress or Playwright).
  • Familiarity with CI tools such as GitHub Actions, CircleCI, or Travis.
• Preferred Skills:
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, comfortable working in distributed teams.
  • Experience with monitoring tools, RabbitMQ, Redis, Kubernetes, and real-time large-scale data processing.
  • Experience with deployment processes and front-end frameworks, preferably React.
