Position Summary

 

The Vegetation Management Leadership leads staff and outside contractors to ensure public safety, electric reliability and regulatory compliance with state and federal vegetation management rules. The incumbents also serve as subject matter experts, provide guidance and influence, and act as external leaders in the industry on regulatory issues and market strategies. The leaders work with customers and public entities to monitor and manage vegetation proximity to PG&E assets to ensure system reliability and safety objectives. The leaders promote and adhere to all company and regulatory safety guidelines and requirements.

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory.

 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Leads specific Vegetation Management Operations or work execution organization to meet VM or Enhanced VM requirements.
  • Leads and oversees all aspects of the operations to meet VM or Enhanced VM requirements.
  • Leads vegetation management department consisting of Governance & Support, and Operations. Establishes overall strategic direction, set short- and long-term goals and performance measures to ensure alignment with overall Company and Electric Operations goals.
  • Leads Operations for VM regional department.
  • Leads and facilitates Short- term or long-term planning and defines plan goals and objectives.
  • Deals with the most complex, difficult and/or sensitive issues with customers and public entities escalated from others including Sr. Management and regulatory authorities. May speak/present to elected officials regulatory bodies and others, representing PG&E’s position regarding vegetation issues. Seeks resolutions that balance the customer, agency, and business needs.
  • Communicates to external agencies and deals with the most complex and sensitive issues with customers and public entities escalated from others.
  • Oversees resolution of complex projects and issues.
  • Supports and directs commercial relationships to ensure safe and efficient operations. • Supports relationships with business units and external agencies.
  • Develops and manages department budget. Regularly assesses actual expenses versus target, making decisions about prioritization of projects. Manage an approximately $250m budget allocated to achieve VM objectives. Reviews and approves work forecasts and budgets. Monitors expenses and reports on actuals vs. budget. Develops variance explanations and action plans to address; presents to leadership.
  • Leads the work with department to develop budget (expense, capital, and expenditures) and monitor, forecast and report on budget performance.
  • Collaborates with and influences both internal and external contacts and stakeholders of various levels on issues and developments affecting vegetation management for the company and/or industry.
  • Manages and create relationships with external vendors and/or internal stakeholders and continues to identify best practices.
  • Manages staff to accomplish results through effective recruitment and selection, training and development & succession, performance management, and rewards and recognition
