REPORTS TO: VP, Asset Management and Property Accounting 

POSITION OVERVIEW: 

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Property Accountant to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the financial operations of multiple affordable, workforce, and student housing properties in our portfolio. This role requires a deep understanding of accounting principles and real estate finance. The Senior Property Accountant will work closely with property managers, asset management, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance with regulatory requirements. Key responsibilities include preparing financial statements, conducting financial analysis, and ensuring the integrity of financial data. The successful candidate will have excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. This is a critical role that requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. POSITION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES: 

Essential functions include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 

- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for assigned real estate entities. 

- Conduct financial analysis and provide insights to management. 

- Complete all necessary monthly general ledger journal entries. 

- Maintain all recurring payables for assigned real estate entities. 

- Process daily accounting, cash, credit card transactions, perform account reconciliations as necessary and meet 

required deadlines for timely financial reporting.

- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.

- Coordinate with property managers and asset management on financial matters.

- Prepare forecasts and assist with budgets for property portfolios.

- Complete all necessary monthly general ledger journal entries. 

- Maintain all recurring payables for assigned real estate entities. 

- Monitor cash flow and manage banking relationships. 

- Reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts.

- Assist with external audits as necessary. 

- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records. 

- Analyze and report on financial performance metrics. 

- Collaborate with other departments on financial planning and analysis. 

- Assist with implementation and enhancement of accounting policies and procedures. 

- Assist with identification and implementation of process improvements to enhance efficiency. 

- Assist with special projects and ad-hoc reporting as needed. 

- Stay current with industry standards and best practices. 

- Distribute financial reporting packages for investors and lending partners as needed.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: 

- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.

- Minimum 3 years of experience in property accounting or real estate finance.

- Strong knowledge of GAAP and real estate accounting principles.

- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. 

- Strong attention to detail and accuracy. 

- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. 

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 

- Strong organizational and time management skills. 

- Experience with budgeting and financial forecasting. 

- Experience with financial statement preparation and analysis. 

- Understanding of cash flow management.
