Our team develops and maintains services that power UI Platform. One of the core services for this team is the transformation and export functionality in Workday, powering all exports from the UI. Our service scales to meet the functional, performance and operational demands of even our largest enterprise customers looking for flexibility to work with their data in other systems familiar to them, using the latest technologies and developer-friendly, and easy-to-maintain tooling.

About the Role

You will be responsible for developing cloud-scale web services in Java or Kotlin that power our mobile and web clients as part of an agile team that delivers on shared commitments. The technologies we use include Java, Kotlin, Spring Boot, Git, JUnit, Gradle, Mockito, Redis, RabbitMQ, Public and Private Clouds, microservices and function-as-a-service. You will collaborate with workmates on your team and in other teams across Workday to design, develop and deploy end-to-end solutions. We design and engineer our services to run reliably at cloud-scale and support our work in production via an on-call support rotation. This role is office-based on a hybrid work model, and we support great work life balance and flexible working arrangements.

About You

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science

• 3+ years of coding experience in server side Java and related technologies

• Work experience in Java based application development

• Professional experience with enterprise web applications deployed continuously

Other Qualifications

• Experience delivering back-end services in microservice or event-driven architectures

• Some frontend experience is desirable, developing cross platform web applications

• Excited and passionate to learn new technologies and skills

• Tenacious and logical problem solver

• Experience in cloud native architecture (Docker, Kubernetes, Istio, Helm) and AWS technologies and CI/CD is a plus

• Experience mentoring junior engineers

• Familiar with the development challenges inherent with highly scalable and available web applications

• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across the organization
