Summer Fine Arts Tutor II (Part-time and Full-Time)

Primary Purpose:
The Tutor will assist the Lead Teacher with the organization and implementation of daily program activities.
Qualifications:
Education/Training:
Must be 18 years of age or older High School Diploma or G.E.D. Skills in Fine Arts
Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting check
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge and ability in Fine Arts teaching and performance on musical instrument, color guard, voice, dance, or theatre
Knowledge of state, UIL, and Fine Arts strand policies (TMEA, TDEA, or TxETA) Ability to understand and follow school policies, procedures, regulations, and data
Experience:
Fine Arts teaching experience (Music, Dance, or Theatre) for students in grades 6-12
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Music
1. Tutor 6-12 school instrumental performers, including marching band, jazz band, soloists, and ensembles.; or Tutor Choral students in proper vocal technique; or tutor/direct color guard performers in
summer marching band in preparation for fall and coordinate program.
Dance
2. Tutor 6-12 dance performers in preparation for all performances by using proper warmup, technique, choreography design, and implementation.
Theatre
3. Tutor 6-12 theatre performers and technicians in proper techniques for successful acting or technical theatre design and implementation.
All Fine Arts Tutors
4. Comply with federal and state laws, Texas State Board of Education rules, UIL rules, TMEA, TDEA, or TxETA rules, local school board policies, and campus policies, practices, and procedures.
5. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
6. Work to provide campus, district, and community awareness of band activities and performances.
7. Communicate expectations and program goals to students.
8. Keep student information confidential.
9. Daily attendance and punctuality are essential functions of the job.
10. Perform other appropriate duties as assigned.
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (up to 40+ lbs.)
Motion: Repetitive hand motions, occasional reaching
Environment: Prolonged and irregular hours, and outside summer activities.
Mental Demands: Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, effective management and public relation skills, and ability to maintain emotional control under stress
Other Information:
Work Days: Summer Activity Schedule as directed for July to mid-August (temporary position)
