Scopely is looking for a Principal Environment Artist to join us remotely from the US!

Scopely is building an exciting AAA multiplayer action game for consoles, PC, and mobile, using Unreal 5. We believe this stylized fantasy project has the potential to be massive in scale and industry-defining!
What You Will Do
As a Principal Environment Artist, you will help set the bar and define the pipeline for exciting new stylized fantasy IP. You will be a direct owner of asset and biome kits that maximize creativity and flexibility, and sets the high bar for quality across the team.
- Work with the Art Director to develop the environment art style and pipeline
- Lead by example to elevate quality and process on the environment art team
- Create high quality modular asset and biome kits, from model through to materials and in game implementation
- Set the bar for look development, guiding the rest of the team to follow your best practices
- Find and tackle technical issues to ensure smooth gameplay, and work with the Tools team to build the best pipeline
- Work with a cross-discipline player experience team to accomplish art, gameplay, and technical goals
- Guide and mentor other team members and partners
What We Are Looking For
- Portfolio showing stylized or non-photo-real environment art
- Unreal (or equivalent AAA ) game engine expertise
- Experience designing modular asset kits for game worlds
- Modeling and material creation expertise using PBR and non photo real techniques
- Maya, Substance, Zbrush, and/or other creation software expertise
- Experience creating fantasy or fantasy adjacent art of any style
- Ability to work well within a cross-discipline, iterative, team environment
- Creative and technical ability to hit game performance targets
Bonus Points
- Love of fantasy universes in any form of media
- Experience with player driven customization, building, creation tools
- Deep technical art knowledge in Unreal engine is a plus but not required
- Passion for games, community, and creating rich player experiences
- Experience with multiplayer games a plus
For candidates in CA, CO, NJ, NY and WA, the annual salary range is $144,200 - $215,000, plus equity, bonus and benefits including healthcare benefits, retirement benefits, pet insurance, paid holidays, paid Scopely free days, and unlimited paid time-off. Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
