Job summary
The Director, Patient Services (U.S.) will be instrumental in the final design, development, execution and monitoring of the Orchard Assist TM patient services program. This individual will lead and oversee the day-to-day operations of the program, including management of the external Hub provider and case managers, co-pay assistance program, and data and reporting on the program’s key performance indices among other responsibilities. The role requires close collaboration with internal partners such as account management, market access, patient advocacy, medical, legal, and regulatory functions. In addition, this position requires close collaboration with qualified treatment centers to optimize the patient treatment journey and product access.

Key Requirements
Required knowledge
· Experience in the design, development, and implementation of a flexible and scalable patient services model that will support patients, caregivers, and healthcare providers.
· Demonstrated knowledge of the necessary standard operating procedures and operational guidance to ensure the efficient execution of a patient services program, including ancillary services that optimize the patient treatment journey experience.
· Demonstrated knowledge of payer policies, coverage, coding, and patient access for innovative therapies
· Working knowledge of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)
· Extensive understanding of reimbursement process, specifically the medical benefit within public and private insurance plans
· Experience launching premium priced, rare disease products in the U.S. market, cell and gene therapy experience preferred
· Minimum of 10 years of experience in the biotech/pharmaceutical/healthcare industry
· Experience in a fast paced, dynamic start-up biotech environment working across a matrix organization effectively and efficiently deploying limited resources
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Education
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study. Advanced degree (Master’s, MBA, PhD) preferred.
Other
This position requires domestic travel (25%+) and a preference to reside within commuting distance to the Boston office.
