Job Title: Director, General Accounting & Reporting / Full-Time, Salaried
Position Will Report To: Director, Financial Reporting at the Galveston, Texas office
Onsite Placement: League City, or Galveston Texas (Monday-Friday / 8:00 am-4:30 pm) The individual selected must have availability outside of core business hours, as necessary. Relocation assistance offered accordingly.

We are looking for a Director of General Accounting & Reporting to lead our general accounting functions and contribute to our financial reporting efforts. What You’ll Do:
• Lead the general accounting function, ensuring the integrity and accuracy of the general ledger and compliance with U.S. GAAP
• Oversee the execution of the company’s account reconciliation program
• Design and maintain accounting systems and controls, and review complex journal entries
• Manage a diverse team, including selection and retention of talent, performance management, and employee development
• Provide accounting guidance to non-finance departments as needed
• Manage and review accounting for various balances on a U.S. GAAP basis, including preparing or reviewing analysis and related journal entries
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures
• Prudent management of expenses by establishing and monitoring department, team, and project budgets

Qualifications:
• Excellent leadership and team management skills
• Proven experience in general accounting and financial reporting
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and accounting systems (Blackline, NetSuite, Oracle, & SAP. knowledge is beneficial)
• Proficiency in reconciliation software tools, and Excel
• Ability to deliver quality results in a deadline driven environment
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work with mathematical concepts

Great to have, but not required:
• Knowledge of the life and annuity insurance industry, including products issued, operating activities performed across the entity, and the regulatory environment
• Broad understanding of financial statement accounts of a life and annuity company, including investment and actuarial balances
