Production CNC Machinist

General Function:     Set up and operate numerically controlled machines to perform series of machining operations, such as turning, milling, and grinding according to work instructions and procedures to assure Belvac’s quality of work is upheld.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

• Safety is our first priority. Machinist must be able to operate machinery safely and follow all established Safety Policies and Procedures.
• Reads prints, job order and tooling instructions to determine product specifications, work-holding arrangement and cutting tools to be used
• Operates multiple CNC machines simultaneously
• Adjust machining origin and tool offsets as necessary
• Understanding and correction of machine alarms
• Recognize and monitor cutting tool wear
• Setup, selection, and measurement of predefined cutting tool assemblies
• Setup and install tooling in lathe turrets and automatic tool change magazine as specified in programs/setup sheets
• Proper use of precision measuring instruments such as micrometer and caliper to perform continuous inspect to maintain 100% compliant product
• Lifts parts manually and positions/secures them in fixture
• Operate machine safely to perform first piece and program prove-out to verify setup and process
• Perform preventative maintenance
• Deburr/Part mark as needed
• Must keep assigned machine(s) and work area cleaned and neat
• It is every BPM, Inc. Employee’s responsibility to be aware of and work with Belvac's current documented Quality Management System as it pertains to their job requirements
• It is every employee’s responsibility to improve processes to reduce set-up and run-time standards when possible.

 

Physical Requirements:

• Requires long periods of standing (up to 10 hours/day)
• Although all production areas have overhead cranes, on occasion Manufacturing, Stockroom and Assembly employees may choose to lift items by hand for convenience.  It is the responsibility of all employees to follow correct lifting techniques and seek help or utilize mechanical lifting aids as appropriate to avoid potential injury.
• Requires good eye, hand coordination
• Requires use of hand tools, files, sanders and grinders

 

Education:                 HS Diploma or Equivalent Certificate
