As BigCommerce expands, we are expediting the deployment of high-quality KPIs to power our enterprise data intelligence. We are hiring our first data quality role to build out a framework for establishing quality in our business metrics and data sets throughout the organization. We envision this person, in partnership with our leaders of the Data warehouse, Business Analytics, and Insights teams, to collaborate with our GTM and Finance leaders to design data strategies that can be developed, tested, and visualized rapidly and with high quality.
This role will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining unit test cases, user acceptance tests, and proactive alerting on data inconsistencies. This role will collaborate closely with the centralized ITGC team to design and provide requirements for automated testing plans and regression tests. As Senior Quality Assurance Data Developer, you will collaborate closely with business and data leaders to advocate for best practices that improve data quality. You will be instrumental in optimizing data quality that drives critical business decision-making.
What You’ll Do
- Build and maintain data sets and dashboards that enable alerting to help to proactively identify data issues and risks
- Develop insights on data quality and communicate to business stakeholders in a clear and concise manner
- Propose changes to process, taxonomy and data definitions based on insights derived from data quality and profiling in partnership with the data strategy and operational teams
- Partner with Operations, GTM and Finance leaders to define user acceptance criteria and change management approaches for data set implementation and management
- Engage and participate in all aspects of design reviews, test and project plans, resource estimates, and implementation schedules
- Collaborate with Insights and Analytics teams to design and build data visualization dashboards that promote data quality
- Collaborate with Data Warehouse Developers and Analysts to ensure quality in key external and internal financial metrics
- Define and document test frameworks and procedures for key data warehouse data sets
- Design, build, execute and maintain regression and automated test cases and plans for key business and SOX compliant data sets
- Provide evidence of testing results for applicable SOX controls
- Establish best practices around quality and change management for the data teams drawing upon an in-depth knowledge of the current industry-wide testing techniques, tools, and methodologies.
Who You Are
- 3-5+ years of technology background are desired, preferably in data/analytics, and at least some programming experience required
- Possess at least a Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (economics, statistics, business, computer science) or equivalent experience, advanced degree a plus
- Passion for data’s ability to both qualitatively and quantitatively address opportunities and challenges facing a business
- Advanced SQL skills are required
- Scripting skills in 1 or 2 languages (BASH/Python/JavaScript)
- Experience with Cloud OLAP database platforms such as Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery.
- Familiarity with ETL\ELT processes and common data transformation techniques (e.g. normalization and denormalization, string parsing, primary key generation)
- Experience with version control software such as Git
- A broad exposure to business applications like CRM tools, financial reporting systems, marketing automation tools, etc (Salesforce, Zuora, Marketo)
- Experience in dimensional data modeling
- Automation frameworks like Selenium (web), etc.
- Exposure to Amazon Web Services, or Linux
