PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Hiring range for this position is: $89,038.97-$111,298.71/Annually

OVERVIEW OF POSITION

Technical Services group is looking for a motived self starter to serve as a Senior GIS Project Manager for geospatial
solutions, data analysis and application development as part of the Public Works Department.


Senior GIS Project Managers serve as both a project manager for complex application development projects and a subject
matter expert on Public Works data. Senior GIS Project Managers’ responsibilities include programming, database
management, project planning and management.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plans, reviews, develops, and coordinates the design and implementation of new or improved

  • applications/programs from project conception to completion, including coordination with various divisions

  • and/or departments.

  • Lead and manage GIS projects from inception to completion, ensuring they meet quality, budget, and timeline

  • requirements.

  • Develop and implement GIS strategies, policies, and procedures to improve efficiency and project outcomes.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including clients, project teams, and external partners, to identify GIS needs and

  • solutions.

  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to GIS team members, fostering a culture of continuous

  • improvement and innovation.

  • Oversee the creation, maintenance, and optimization of GIS datasets, applications, and workflows.

  • Conduct needs assessments and feasibility studies to determine project requirements and scope.

  • Prepare and deliver project proposals, progress reports, and final deliverables to clients and stakeholders.

  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and best practices in GIS and project management.

  • Stay current with advancements in GIS technology and methodologies and integrate new tools and techniques

  • into projects as appropriate.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & WORKING CONDITIONS

An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates required knowledge, skills, and
abilities may be considered.

Education:

  • Masters degree from accredited program in GIS, geography, planning, computer science or related field.

  • Bachelors degree or GIS certification may also be acceptable if the work experience is commensurate with this position.

Experience:

  • A minimum of six (6) years of relevant progressively responsible experience as a project manager including, but not limited to, project design and application management.

  • Preferred ten (10) years of relevant progressively responsible experience as a project manager

  • A proven history of successful delivery of application rollout, on time and within budget.
