This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable.
Shifts:
B | Monday – Thursday (2:30pm-1:00am)
C | Friday – Sunday (6am-6:30pm)
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Translating engineering intent and drawings into fully functional hardware ready for test, qualification, and flight by crafting manufacturing bill of materials and work instructions
- Identifying tools and equipment required for manufacturing flight hardware
- Providing shipside/lineside support on the manufacturing floor
- Non-conformance report (NCR) generation, management, & closure
- Supporting introduction of new products by crafting manufacturing plan artifacts including build plans, duration estimates, index plans, and tool lists
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or Aerospace Engineering.
- 3+ years (Level II), 5+ years (Level III) of experience in areas of aircraft, spacecraft, launch vehicle structures, automotive manufacturing or similar. Hands on experience with Machining (3-6 Axis Mill, VTL or HTL, EDM, Waterjet processes), Chemical and Heat Treatment post processing of components.
- Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals for mechanical design and manufacturing, including knowledge of GD&T.
- Strong written, personal, technical, and software skills (CAD, Issue Tracking, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc).
- Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Hands on experience with building flight hardware, Machining (3-6 Axis Mill, VTL or HTL, EDM, Waterjet processes), Chemical and Heat Treatment post processing of components.
- 4+ year experience in an engineering capacity, including internships
- Experience with design, development or production of launch vehicle, spacecraft, or satellites.
- Proficient with Computer Aided Design (CAD) software (Creo or CATIA V5)
- Customer focused with a proven track record to work cooperatively with teams of different skills across large geographic distances.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills
