On-Call Transportation Planner/ Engineer
We have an opportunity for a Transportation Planner and/or Engineer to assist our growing Transportation planning group in our Raleigh office! This position will be under the guidance of a Group Manager and will coordinate with other Project Managers and Planning team members as needed to provide additional support for projects in North Carolina and throughout the southeast. This position will work on an as-needed basis (on-call employee/contract employee options are available).
The Impact You Will Have
- Support a range of planning projects and/or related transportation studies. This includes leading key tasks or other project elements as requested
- Use/oversee ArcGIS and other analytical tools to support project outcomes and recommendations
- Oversee data collection, field observations, and technical project components
- Prepare/review written summaries of technical analyses and presentation materials
- Coordinate technical work, contribute to agency and stakeholder engagement, and assist with developing project strategies and approaches
What We Are Looking For
- Previous experience in a similar role; diversity of background experience to support diverse transportation planning and engineering efforts
- Conduct community impact assessments
- Provide background research and expertise to complete feasibility studies and preliminary design
- Support/develop environmental study and documentation tasks for compliance with NEPA/SEPA, Section 4(f), Section 6(f), and other relevant state and federal regulations.
- Strong understanding of transportation and transit planning concepts, practices, and procedures
- Knowledge of FTA and/or NCDOT regulations, policies, and procedures
- Planning and program support if NC municipal planning agencies (MPO/TPO/RPO) and municipalities
- Develop and provide public meeting support and coordination
- BS in Civil Engineering and PE license in NC preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 Suite
- Must possess a valid North Carolina driver's license to travel to various site locations and meetings
- Remote and Hybrid work locations will be considered
