Job Description

Process engineering position focused on manufacturing and testing night vision power supplies.  Position responsibilities include:

  • Knowing and understanding the entire process well enough to do it themselves and teach it to others
  • Optimizing manufacturing process to reduce touch time
  • Optimizing manufacturing processes equipment for minimum cost and maximum yield
  • Conducting failure analysis on failed parts to determine root cause and best corrective action to prevent recurrence
  • Creating reports based on failure analysis of components and communicating results to internal and external customers, and suppliers
  • Providing input to project plans and maintain liaison with other departments in the organization
  • Preparing engineering specifications for purchases
  • Working with vendors on PCB layout, fabrication and other design/test activities
  • Participating in evaluating engineering prototypes and translate results into manufacturing criteria and specifications
  • Conducting experiments/tests to evaluate operating characteristics of products or processes
  • Working to minimize or eliminate safety, quality, delivery, inventory, and productivity problems
  • Using process equipment, test instruments, and precision gauges in appropriate situations
  •  Performing other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • BS in Electrical, Mechanical, Materials Engineering or Equivalent
  • 5+ years technical experience in Electro Mechanical, Electro Optical, or PCBs
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
  • Effective analytical skills and communication skills  
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis techniques and SPC
  • Proficiency with designing structured experimentation
  • Proficiency with failure analysis of electronic devices and board and component levels
  • Ability to work and collaborate well with others with a range of technical capabilities from process operator to production supervisor to engineering colleagues
  • Ability to handle multiple high priorities; comfort with ambiguity
  • Comfortable with self-initiating business and professional improvements
  • MS Office skills: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint

Preferred Skills:

  • MS degree or higher
  • Proficiency with statistical analysis software; Minitab, JMP, SAS, R or others
  • Experience writing complex MS Access queries (linking multiple tables, using If statements or other functions, etc…)
  • Experience with failure analysis equipment: Light Microscopy, SEM, FTIR etc.…
  • Six Sigma certification (green belt or higher)
  • Application of DMAIC and advanced statistical tools
  • Ability to collaborate with all facets of the Night Vision organization
