Due to growth, we are adding a Sr. Paralegal to our Legal & Regulatory Affairs department.
This is a hybrid position out of our Madison WI location.
The Sr. Paralegal will be responsible for both substantive paralegal work and executive level administrative support to the SVP, Chief Legal Officer. Success in this role requires the ability to handle a high volume of work with a sense of urgency and prioritization as well as advanced administrative, communication and organizational skills, handling highly confidential information with integrity, consistently maintaining excellent professional relations, and an understanding of legal actions and operations

Responsibilities
How do I make an impact on my team?
- Imparts the philosophy, values, mission, and vision of Navitus and SSM Health and facilitates the integration of values in Continuous Quality Improvement (“CQI”) activities.
- Expert in the specific areas of law and regulation applicable to a given legal discipline, the Senior Paralegal is able to independently perform and manage matter intake and administration through resolution, legal research, reviewing and identifying issues in legal matters, resolving questions submitted from business units, interpreting and implementing applicable policies and procedures, and working closely and directly with various business units and counsel in bringing matters to resolution.
- Manages processes related to licensing requirements for Navitus and its subsidiaries and their employees.
- Conducts legal search on relevant current and emerging laws, statutes and regulations, prepares memorandums of the findings, and create action plans where necessary to mitigate risks.
- Prepares legal documents, such as contracts and correspondence, for review, approval, and use by the attorneys.
- Files legal documents and correspondence in digital and physical filing systems.
- Ensures effective indexing and filing of legal documents.
- Researches and analyzes statutes, judicial decisions, legal articles, contracts, and legal codes.
- Supports attorneys by communicating and obtaining information, following-up on delegated assignments and knowing when to act and when to refer matters to the attorney.
- Performs other clerical duties such as scheduling appointments, providing information to internal and external stakeholders, taking notes, writing, and typing routine correspondence, and reading and triaging incoming mail. Identifying, reviewing, and tracking legislative and regulatory environment changes impacting Navitus and its affiliates.
- Provide support and guidance related to the interpretation of applicable rules and regulations.
- Conduct and participate in the training, coaching, and mentoring of the paralegal team members on the use of Navitus systems, tools, and techniques.
- Works with the legal team to optimize processes, playbooks, and improve standard templates. Other related duties as assigned/required.
Qualifications
What our team expects from you?
- High school diploma or GED required. A paralegal educational certificate is preferred.
- This is a hybrid position with 2-3 days in office of our Madison WI location
- 5+ years of relevant corporate paralegal experience with a governmental agency, law firm and/or in-house legal department.
- Highly developed verbal and written communications skills to interact tactfully and effectively with others both internal and external to Navitus on sensitive and complex topics.
- Ability to type with speed and accuracy.
- Ability to use a personal computer and possess advanced skills in latest software programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Outl
