Job role

 

The Product Owner (PO) is the voice of the customer and the liaison for the development team and the management leadership. The PO is responsible for maximizing the customer’s value of the product resulting from the work of the team. Is the sole person responsible for creating and prioritizing the Product Backlog. The PO must define a vision of the product in close alignment with various stakeholder across multiple hierarchical levels. He/ she needs to understand customers, market, competition, and needs to be able to identify trends and opportunities in each of these areas.

 

What you will do

 

The PO is:

  • Accountable for maximizing the value of the product, resulting from the work of the agile team.
  • Develops a clear vision, strategy, and roadmap for the product.
  • Prioritizes and manages the product backlog, including clearly expressing product backlog items, ordering the items to best achieve goals and missions, representing the desires of the stakeholders in the product backlog, and ensuring that the product backlog is visible
  • Manages cross functional dependencies between epics and user stories in alignment with stakeholders
  • Links objectives to key results to increase transparency how the outcomes of the product contribute to important priorities throughout the organization.
  • Regularly communicates updates and creates transparency towards the customer on what the agile team will work on next.
  • Ensures that the team understands the backlog items to the needed level
  • Ensures that product increments are delivered in high quality and iteratively considering customer and stakeholder feedback thus ensuring continuous product improvement.
  • Clearly points out and provides solutions for product-related impediments.
  • Collaborates with other product owners.
  • Operates within an agile project structure primarily using agile principles and practices, while also applying specific practices from project management
  • Agree priorities with product owners and line managers.
  • Owns and develops communication templates and toolbox.
  • Manages OE collaboration (OE + WPS communications community)
  • Makes sure that employee impacts are assessed, and employee impact roadmap is updated.
  • Ensures that RACI and communications processes are followed.
  • Assigns ad-hoc tasks or support requests coming from squads that have no dedicated comms expert.
  • Ensures that employee communication and adoption is a priority in communications activities \
  • Has a mandate to guide the work of the communications people, ensures the use of standardized materials and makes sure that communications efforts are targeted to the most important topics from the employee satisfaction point of view.
  • Negotiates with other PO’s and makes sure that communications experts have all prerequisites in place in order to conduct their communication work efficiently e.g. have enough lead time to assess changes, plan and create materials.
