Job Purpose
On a global scale, we’re looking for an experienced Data Scientist to co-deliver solutions on:
- E2E Reporting & Analytics for Integrated Supply Chain (MAKE, SOURCE, DELIVER, QUALITY, PLAN & Integrated-Business-Planning) to drive business decisions to improve on Service, Cost and Inventory.
- Improvements in Master data to clean Lifecycle statuses and streamline MRP runs, capture and maintain Production data to manage capacity constraints in the network.
- Descriptive-, prescriptive- and predictive models that are built in our big data platforms to optimize our MRP and network design e.g. through matching demand segmentation (ABC-XYZ) with supply policies (MTO/MTS), order quantities/lot sizes, safety stock locations and quantities.
- Automated global solutions to facilitate companywide IBP and Financial planning with high focus on reliability and sustainable performance.
The Role and its Responsibilities
You will perform activities such as:
- Data engineering – extract and process, cleanse, standardize and validate the integrity of data.
- Data science – drive innovation initiatives to explore and implement emerging tools & technologies, and implement state-of-art Machine learning, optimization and statistical techniques to enhance predictive modeling, optimization, and decision-making processes.
- Product owner – responsible for defining and driving the product vision and strategy, collaborating with stakeholders and cross-functional teams, prioritizing and managing the product backlog, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality products, and gathering feedback for continuous improvement and innovation.
- Data analytics & reporting – Interpret results in a business context, discuss with business partners, and incorporate data-driven decision-making in operations. Design advanced data models for multi-stakeholders and performant reporting while dealing with big data.
- Validate achieved process performance with meaningful KPIs.
- Identify Continuous Improvements within current tools/systems and use cases.
- Closely work with Product Owners, Data Engineers and Data Architects to build robust data infrastructure.
- Foster a culture of knowledge sharing and mentorship, where employees are encouraged to expand their expertise and contribute to the collective growth of the team.

Job requirements
- Pro-active and result driven, while being a strong team player.
- Strong attention to detail. Be able to work with large datasets, often with technical names, spotting potential errors on the data, and without losing focus of the task at hand, and key deliverables.
- Potential and affinity to grow towards being a challenging partner to senior members of the AkzoNobel community, bridging business needs and IT, and realizing cross-functional impact.
- Basic project management skills and understanding and affinity of Agile working.
- Good (written and oral) communication skills, strong command in English.
