Clinical Nurse Consultant - Acute General Surgery (522685)

The role:

The Clinical Nurse Consultant - Acute General Surgery will:

• Provide expert contemporary clinical advice and leadership in acute general surgical nursing within the unit and across the Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH).
• Support and promote an environment that fosters teaching, quality improvement, risk mitigation and research activities within an acute surgical nursing environment.
• Coordinate the care provided to patients according to individual needs and in line with legal requirements.

• Working with multidisciplinary team to improve the outcomes of Acute General Surgery patients.
• Opportunities for quality improvement.
• Coordination of care for Acute General Surgery patients.

Details of Appointment

Fixed term, part time, day worker position working 40 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible until 7 February 2026.

*notwithstanding hours may be negotiated with the successful applicant

• Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or fixed term full time, part time and casual vacancies.

Salary: $111,506 - $118,336 (pro-rata) per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible. 

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available: 

• Professional Development Allowance of up to $500 per annum

• Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type

• Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement 2023

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:

1. Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse

1. Has, or is working towards, a relevant postgraduate qualification

The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:
