The Financial Aid Processing Specialist provides administrative and professional expertise to the Office of Financial Aid. This position supports the delivery and accountability for federal, state, institutional and private financial aid funds. This position's main responsibilities are to oversee awarding of Promise Scholarships and providing Loan Processing and reporting.
Reports To: Assistant Director
Minimum Qualifications
- Completed Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution with one year of professional level experience in higher education student services (i.e. Admissions, Enrollment Services, Registrar, Financial Aid, Academic Advising, etc.) OR completed Associate's degree from a regionally accredited institution with three years of professional level experience in higher education student services OR five years of professional level experience in higher education student services.
- Two or more years of professional level experience with online student information systems.
- Demonstrated experience in student relations.
- Demonstrated commitment to working with diverse communities and supporting individuals from diverse populations, including racial, ethnic, socio-economic and gender backgrounds that are underrepresented.
Professional level experience is defined by the Colorado Division of Human Resources: A position that involves the exercise of discretion, analytical skill, judgment, personal accountability, and responsibility for creating, developing, integrating, applying, or sharing an organized body of knowledge. Colorado revised statute (C.R.S. 24-50-135(1) allows colleges to exempt positions from the State Personnel Classified System that are determined to be professional level work.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two years of professional level employment experience in a financial aid office in Higher Education.
- Demonstrated work experience in a community college.
- Experience with Banner Student Information System.
- Experience with interpretation of State and Federal financial aid regulations and procedures.
- Ability to read, write, and speak fluent Spanish
