What you'll do...

We are looking for an experienced Staff Data Scientist to join our team and help develop a sophisticated forecasting and localization’s model. These models play pivotal role in accurate forecasting and optimize inventory across chain of stores. Our team of experts is committed to transform merchandizing and assortment processes and conducting research and development to create models that address the future requirements of our complex omni-channel international business.

About Team: 

The Merchandising Data Science team aims to build and deploy a large-scale automated solution for accurate forecasting, and flow of inventory via various localization models across the Walmart network. This team is part of Applied AI Organization, a group of impact-driven researchers dedicated to pursuing scientific and scalability excellence to ensure end-to-end optimality in Walmart's assortment.

What you'll do:

• Model Development: Design, develop, and implement advanced algorithms for demand forecasting.
• Data Analysis: Analyze large datasets to extract actionable insights and refine model inputs, including forecasts and cost structures.
• Optimization and Machine Learning: Employ optimization and machine learning techniques in determining pack quantities and initial buy.
• Collaboration and Stakeholder Management : Work closely with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, engineers, merchandisers, and product managers to ensure seamless integration and implementation of models.

What you'll bring:

• Educational Background: Master's degree in Data Science, Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, or a related fields.
• 7+ years of experience in building statistical models in the areas of forecasting, clustering and optimization
• Solid understanding and experience in scaling DS models to reusable ML pipelines.
• Technical Skills: Outstanding skills in programming in Python, SQL/Spark; statistics, forecasting, data analytics, machine learning, and optimization tools.
