The City of Manhattan is accepting applications for a KDHE Camp Director for Little Apple Day Camp. The Camp Director will work directly with the Recreation Supervisor to implement a licensed school age summer program for 185 youth. The selected candidate(s) must be able to attend all in-service training sessions.

The position includes full-time, daytime hours (Monday - Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. during the summer camp time frame). Director duties run from late May 1st - early August with staff hiring and pre-camp preparation from March to May.

Essential Functions

Plans and programs all day activities including life sports, arts and crafts, games, music, and outdoor recreation.
Supervises day camp staff and campers.
Prepares weekly and daily schedules.
Maintains records for State of Kansas licensing requirements. Attendance, Vaccine records, physical form, and permission forms.
Coordinates scheduling for transportation and drivers.
Notifies the proper agency in the event of an emergency.
Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Additional Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Recreation, or a related field.
Experience necessary to achieve certification as a childcare facility director can be substituted for education requirement.
CPR/First Certification (can be obtained through Parks & Recreation).
CDL with passenger endorsement or ability to obtain.
Selected candidate(s) must pass a KBI background check.
Must be 18 years of older.
