Discovery Education is looking for a Senior Researcher to join our product team. You will support the research and analysis of product resources, customer feedback and program evaluation using a variety of data sources. This role will prepare reports and other supporting materials based on research analysis. The individual will plan, organize, and conduct quantitative and qualitative research, data collection, analysis, and report and present results to partners. The Senior Researcher will review, monitor, and analyze data to determine trends and impact to partnership programs. Primary duties will include managing evaluation projects and data collection, writing research protocol development, analyzing data, writing evaluation reports, and presenting data to internal and external stakeholders. The individual will have to work collaboratively across teams, working closely with the stakeholders to ensure the reliability and validity of measurements.
This role will sit in our Charlotte Headquarters with a hybrid work schedule.
About the Role
- Manage research projects and collaborate with cross-functional departments to develop and implement research to support business goals.
- Develop research questions and measurement plans to quantify the impact of programs.
- Identify areas of improvement and develop new methodologies to meet project goals.
- Utilize a wide range of quantitative and qualitative measurement techniques including surveys, interviews, literature reviews, focus groups, and in-product data tracking.
- Produce insightful research reports to support program needs and internal decision making.
- Extract and transform data and join datasets from different sources.
- Use statistical methods to analyze structured and unstructured data for actionable insights.
- Write technical reports.
- Ensure deliverables meet quality standards and business requirements • Present data to internal stakeholders and external partner team.
Requirements
- Master’s or PhD in education, research, psychology or a related quantitative field.
- 3-5 years conducting research. Education field is preferred.
- A minimum of 3 years experience managing large data sets and analyzing data for actionable insights.
- Experience querying/joining databases and using statistical computer languages: R, Python, SQL, SPSS, etc.
- Experience with data mining and data cleaning, including JSON data formats.
- Experience with data visualization and reporting techniques.
- Experience taking transactional business data, analyzing that data to answer a core research question and using analytics tools and systems to present the findings and insights.
- Demonstrated ability to learn new systems quickly and master data integrity among multiple systems.
- Must have strong Excel, PowerPoint, MS Word knowledge.
- Must have strong listening, analysis and problem solving skills.
- Must have strong interpersonal skills – collaboration across multiple business and technology functions, relationship building and consensus building are a must.
- Must be able to work on and prioritize multiple tasks while working well under pressure.
- Must be a self-starter and work productively with minimal direction.
- Must learn quickly and produce under pressure and tight deadlines.
