OPPORTUNITY OVERVIEWZeroFox seeks a Threat Researcher to be responsible for conducting research and producing finished intelligence products in support of customer-driven intelligence products and tactical investigations, leveraging information obtained through open, closed, and internal sources, with a focus on cyber security. The Threat Researcher will have a background in computer sciences, experience with vulnerability research and malware analysis, as well as excellent writing skills. Discretion, teamwork, and a creative spirit are a must.

Role and responsibilities

• Supporting technical customer requests of varying complexities and engaging with customers across the investigation cycle, from initial scoping to final delivery.
• Deliver clear and concise written analysis to contribute to the production of high-quality bespoke threat assessments.
• Proactively identifying and tracking potential cyber security threats.
• Vulnerability research, reverse engineering, and malware analysis.

Required qualifications and skills

• Experience in the field of cyber threat intelligence or threat research, typically obtained in 3+ years.
• Ability to independently analyze problems and conduct research to create solutions.
• Ability to determine the credibility, value, significance, and relevancy of information from different data sources to produce clear, concise, and timely analytic products.
• Strong writing skills, the ability to think critically and qualify assessments, and solid communication skills.
• Knowledge of one or more scripting languages for automation and complex searches.
• Creativity in leveraging OSINT techniques and methods.
• Knowledge of operational security tradecraft.
• Proven track record of managing and executing on short-term and long-term projects with minimal direction or oversight. 
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.

Desired qualifications and skills

• Expertise in dark and deep web research; knowledge of criminal marketplace operations; and competence in identifying new sources and developing threat actor profiles.
• Experience in conducting risk and vulnerability assessments. 
• Use of data visualization tools/libraries and scraping tools.
• Experience in briefing decision-makers and senior leaders.
