The Role
NNS Quality Assurance Engineering is seeking an experienced Quality Analyst to join us in supporting processes within NNS. This individual shall demonstrate proficiency in the following: Develops, modifies, applies and maintains quality evaluation, control systems, and protocols for procedures. Collaborates with engineering and manufacturing functions to ensure quality standards are in place. Devises/implements methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and production equipment. Designs, analyzes inspection, testing processes, mechanisms and equipment; conducts quality assurance test; and performs statistical analysis to assess the cost of and determine the responsibility for, products or materials that do not meet required standards and specifications. Audit quality systems for deficiency identification and correction. Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards and that documentation is compliant with requirements. Candidates should have a questioning attitude, desire to learn and solve problems while collaborating with personnel at all levels and within different functional areas of the company. May specialize in the areas of design, incoming material, production control, product evaluation and reliability, inventory control and/or research and development as they apply to product or process quality. May be certified in lean and six-sigma quality engineering methodologies.
Must Have
Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of relevant exempt experience; Master’s Degree and 4 year of relevant professional experience
One of the following may be used as equivalent to Bachelor's Degree to meet minimum qualifications:
- NNS Apprentice School graduate
- Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate
- Associate's Degree or other formal 2 year program and 2 years of relevant exempt experience or 4 years of relevant non-exempt experience
- Military Paygrade E-5 or above military experience
- High School/GED and 4 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant exempt experience
- High School/GED and 8 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant non-exempt experience
Nice to Have
- Strong working knowledge of problem solving, root cause analysis, and process management (e.g., Process Mapping and FMEA)
- Demonstrated ability to drive process improvements an influence change
- Excellent communication and writing skills
- Investigates problems and develops disposition and corrective actions for recurring discrepancies.
- Performs deckplate surveillance to ensure processes conform to established standards.
- Independently demonstrates the skill and ability to perform complex professional tasks.
- Working knowledge of Quality processes (e.g. certification, testing) and ISO 9000 apply to Military, DOE, shipbuilding
- Knowledgeable with Technical Publications and Navy Welding Specifications (i.e. TP 1688, TP 278, TP 248, etc)
- Working knowledge of Agile, Knowledge Management, and/or Systems Methodologies
- Training in LEAN, Six Sigma, CI methodologies, and/or Certified Green or Black Belt
